Research Activity
My research activity in Virgo is devoted to Data Analysis activity and to thecnical support for Virgo software installation.
I'm involved in
- Noise Analysis
- Transient Signal Detection
- External triggers Detection
In May 2008 I was appointed as noise analysis coordinator for Virgo Experiment.
The Noises Studies group works on the fully characterization of Virgo detector noise. The knowledge of the detector noise is fundamental both to understand the interferometer behavior, and for the application of signal detection algorithms. When linked to commissioning activities the study of ITF noise help in the noise hunting activities from experimental point of view. On the other sides, for the signal detection activities, the analysis of noise sources which could mimic the Gravitational Signal events contribute to the setting up of Data Quality of the data and to veto analysis. Moreover the development of new algorithms and software tools which could help in data-conditioning for the astrophysics group has to be done on the basis of the knowledge of our detector noise.
